In this post I will briefly analyze the storm that takes place in the movie “Joe Versus the Volcano”.
God’s intervention
As Joe is traveling by boat a storm forms.
Storms were always sen as an act of god. They mark the presence of a god, his might and wrath. Storms symbolize transformation, rebirth and a new beginning.
Joe’s boat is destroyed by lighting.
Lighting symbolizes life energy, might and strength. It is another intervention by God.
The whole scene symbolizes a rebirth for Joe. His old self died in the ocean when he jumped in to rescue Patricia and a new Joe was reborn.
